Best Music Class for a 2 year old?

Anonymous
I'm new to the area and after some research, a bit overwhelmed with all the options for a music class for my 2 year old daughter. We live in Arlington, and I'm just looking for a fun music class for her.. Not necessarily something that is super educational, or signing, etc. Just something fun for the two of us to do involving music / movement, etc. Any recommendations? thx!

Look for Music Together classes. My 23-month-old daughter LOVES it. Songs very catchy, fun activities and movements to do with the music, interactive with parent and child, etc. You can find classes near you from their website:

I see from a search on their website that they're held in several locations in Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church.

We take Music Together in Arlington. WE love the class! We are on our second session. Plus our teacher is awesome!

i suppose i'm in the minority, but my twins hated music together. i think there was too much "circle time" for them -- too much sitting quietly and listening to the instructor. they love little maestros (at jw tumbles in arlington) -- in that class, they are free to dance around the whole time, play instruments, etc. different strokes for different folks, i suppose...

OP here.. thanks for the responses. My daughter definitely cannot sit still! I'm hoping to do a couple trial classes and take it from there.. any other votes or info is much appreciated!

We loved Music Together through Arlington County. And I'm not sure what PP is talking about, too much sitting time. We've taken MT from many different instructors over the years (in 3 different states) and none have expected the kids to sit still and just listen. The kids are free to move around as much as they need to, and getting out and helping put away instruments, scarves, shakers, etc., are part of the class as well. If Catherine is still teaching in Arlington, definitely suggest her. I don't remember her last name, it's been a while since I had the classes there with my first child.

I also like that you get a range of ages in MT--good for babies to see bigger kids, and good for older toddlers to get used to being around babies. We did take one class where there was a 4 year old who got a little too physical, but that really has been the exception.

Yes, we LOVED music together too. If you are willing to drive to McLean, there is an incredible teacher named Miss Patty (I think?!) at the McLean Community Center. Her voice is BEAUTIFUL and she is so sweet and welcoming.
