I spent the last three days out on sales calls with my team and each day tried a different pair of my black heels - - they ALL hurt in different ways. What is a really comfortable brand for a business stylish pump that is comfortable? I'm not talking about fugly either. I'm willing to pay big bucks but I want them to last and to be comfortable.
The only ones that come to mind are the Nike Air / Cole Haan line, and maybe Taryn Rose? Any others? I want about a 3" heel too. |
| OP, the brands you named would be the most comfortable and fashionable. Personally, you can't beat the Cole Haan/Nike pump. |

Munro. I bought mine at Nordstrom.
Also, go to The Walking Store and try on pumps there. I think there is one at Dulles Town Center. They have many different brands and lots of different looks to choose from. You can also look online -- they have a pretty good site. |
| To a great extent, any 3" heel, no matter how expensive, is going to cause some discomfort--if not in your foot, in your back. This is simply the physics of a 3" heel. You can minimize the effects by choosing a shoe with a platform in the front (so that the difference between the heel and the toe is less than 3") or by choosing a shoe with a lower heel. |
Another vote for Munro. Solid, well constructed and comfortable! I have wide feet with high arches and need to be able to wear arch supports. Munro works for me. |
| I can't even get my mind around a 3-inch heel, save for evenings out. Go with a shorter heel so you can still wear a 3-incher for fun times in your older years. Both my MIL and her sister can't wear heels now because of all the years they spent wearing 3-inchers. |

I have a pair of Rockport heels with Adidas insoles that are really comfy. I usually consider Rockports to be beyond fugly, but these are basic pumps in about a 2.5" heel. Around $100, so they are considerably less expensive than the Cole Haan/Nike ones.
Since you should give your shoes a day to breath between wearings, you'll want to get at least two pairs. |
| I've had a pair of 2" Cole Haan slingbacks for 5 years. Totally totally worth the $$$. They are more comfortable than lower pumps I have. |
| I have had good luck with Franco Sarto shoes (L&T and Nordstrom). I won't wear uncomfortable shoes! |

Thanks everyone! The other thing I struggle with is when do you try shoes on; at the end of the day when your feet are sore and probably biggest, or in the morning before your feet swell?
Seems like either way, you would end up in shoes that don't fit right? |

You are supposed to try shoes on in the middle of the day but I can see trying them on earlier and seeing that there is a little more room. I find it more important to try them on with the appropriate hosiery as the thickness of it determines the best fit. And some manufacturers design better for certain foot shapes. Find the best ones and your shoes will always fit you well.
I do buy my evening shoes a half size larger to compensate for the swelling. |
