I can't deal with these whittening strips, any other good options?

Anonymous
I think they are really gross, I feel like I can't swallow or move my mouth and the stuff that gets in my moth tastes horrible. I just saw on tv that one brand came out with a tray system I am thinking this might be better, anyone try it? Or have suggestions? Do these strips actually work, I really don't want to keep doing this for 2 weeks if it doesn't even work. Thanks

Colgate used to make a brush-on whitener in a small bottle, kind of like using nail polish but on your teeth. Haven't seen it in a while, though, but maybe there are other brands out there if you look on line. I found using the trays to be worse than using the strips with all of the goo getting everywhere.

I had professional trays made years ago which I still use. Totally worth it and very easy. Professional results which only require 1-2 sessions per year with 1-2 nights of use. Whitener is mint-flavored.

What's the whitener brand, PP? Do you buy it from the dentist or elsewhere?

PP here. It's called "NiteWhite" and I get it from the dentist but in this day and age, I'm sure you can also buy it online. But you do need the custom trays...

Is it bad for your enamel or anything?

Going to the dentist tomorrow and think I will have to ask about this.

No, not at all. You need to be careful as to placement so yu don't get overflow and if you use it too many nights in a row, teeth can get temporarily sensitive. (Don't bleach right after a cleaning.) I alternate - bottom row one night, top row the next - no problems.

I have the custom trays from a dentist, but found that the solution used with them was really painful for me (sensitive teeth/gums). I have used Aquafresh white trays with good results and less discomfort, and I think you only use them for five days or so. Unfortunately, you do get the icky/goopy taste in your mouth though.

One way to avoid the goopy mess is putting in less and placing the goo in the tray closer to where the top of the teeth would hit so it is less likely to squirt out.
