Our technician will future-proof your home with dedicated Ethernet wiring we'll install between our box (ONT) and the router
Anyone heard of this. I'm upgrading my wifi and the Verizon rep is telling me this. And that it will take 2 hours. She is saying the ONT has to be upgraded to support the higher Wifii speed. Why do I even need to have this ONT. Can't they uust Ugh, this is confusing. |
| The ONT is the optical network terminal. You need it because the the internet, TV and phone from Verizon is carried over fiber optic cables and the equipment and wiring in your home is not fiber optic cable. Why it will take 2 hours and how much of the work is outside or inside depends on there the cables are, where electricity is available and where you router is. |

that makes sense, thanks!

| if you think the wiring sounds like a good idea, pay an electrician to run the wires cleanly. You do not want a Verizon tech drilling holes trying to figure it out |
| Also the Ethernet from ONT to the router is better than coax cable. Just make sure they put the router as centrally in your home as possible without any brick or metal walls near it. |
