Hahaha It’s how the PTA communicates with families. I found this out when my kid started school. |

Before Facebook and other social media, it was a way for like-minded people to communicate. For example, when my son was born I belonged to a moms group in my neighborhood. We had a Yahoo group set up, so if I had a question I wanted their input on, I’d email the group and people would reply. These days we’d use a Facebook group for that sort of communication. |

Most of my yahoo groups switched to groups.io.

Lots of options for avoiding Facebook if you look. When my organization suggested switching the listserv the mom in charged was shocked to learn a significant number of people either do not have an account or never look at it. She thought they were just tech limited (and encouraged them to try new technology because times have changed!) ..only to find out most worked in security or data collection and just stayed clear of social media. |
