Amy Coney Barrett and IVF

Has anyone else read about the supreme court nominee’s opinions on IVF? This NPR article describes Tammy Duckworth stating that she likely would not support embryo banking or any IVF treatment that could result in discarded embryos. Would politicians be able to end embryo banking? Or PGS testing?

If roe is over turned, there is no ‘right’ to discard embryos. States could choose to ban certain practices

Its not getting overturned. Turn off NPR and calm down.

It’s already effectively overturned in many states. The restrictions on abortion clinics are so onerous that they shut down each and every one until there aren’t any left. There are dozens of states where women do not have access to abortion. With ACB we’re now facing the prospect of states with no IVF. Maybe even the entire country.

Wake up.

Lol more left wing fearmongering at its finest. It’s all you have, isn’t it? ACB has nothing to do with IVF and by forcing a non-issue you’re revealing yourself as anti-women. Go troll somewhere else, Chuck.

Actually, 06:21, you are completely wrong - under ACB's views, life begins at conception and exists "from fertilization until death." They believe that IVF that results in the creation and eventual destruction of extra embryos destroys life and is tantamount to murder. This is in line with some Catholics' views (including my MIL's) but is not talked about because IVF is much more popular than abortion. ACB has supported a group that is on record advocating criminalizing the destruction of fertilized embryos.

What? If Roe v Wade is overturned IVF is definitely going to be under attack.

Just because you don’t understand that fetuses and embryos are the same gestational age whether you’re dealing with a natural pregnancy or IVF doesn’t make it any less so.

Accepting why a conservative says as true is now left wing fear mongering?

She’s going to be the first Handmaid on the Supreme Court.

She seriously held that status in her right wing church that was founded because pro life Catholicism was too liberal.

IVF doesn’t HAVE to result in the destruction of embryos, right?

But IVF is for people with money - you know, the people who run our society. IVF is safe from the Supreme Court.
