High HCG levels

Anonymous
Hi- I have never posted before but looking for some help. I am 40 years old and have two children from IVF. A 9 year old and a 5 year old (FET). I have many frozen embryos left with my 30 year old eggs so we decided to try for one more child. My HCG beta test came back Tuesday as positive, with a reading of 1934. My second HCG test today was 5543. With my first two children my readings were much lower, more about the 2-3,000 range for the second test. We only transferred one embryo and I’m freaking out a little thinking 1) it is twins and 2) it’s a molar pregnancy. The clinic said I’ll come back in two weeks for my ultrasound. So my question is, has anyone has crazy high HCG levels and had a healthy singleton pregnancy? Thank you for any help.

Were your embryos PGS tested?

They were not because the eggs were 30 and I had two healthy children so SG suggested against it.

What days past transfer? My 13pt beta was 1800something and then 18pt over 11,000. Singleton.

Mine were high and I was dx with a molar pregnancy. It almost killed me; had metastatic tumors and needed several courses of strong chemo. Make sure your dr doesn’t take a laissez faire attitude. Mine should have been paying more attention.

Thank you! My first beta was 14 days after a blast transfer and the second beta (today) was 16 days past transfer

Do you mind sharing what your HCG levels were? I emailed my doctor today and he said I shouldn’t worry about it, that chances are it’s just a super strong pregnancy

Seems fine.

That doesn't double enough for twins. Just barely there for a singleton.

My first beta was 1200+. My second (4 days later after a weekend) was 7000. Singleton.

My first beta after FET at day 14 was 1300. We transferred 1 embryo. The next one was over 4000. Healthy singleton.

I’ve been pregnant three times... two singletons and then twins. My twin pregnancy was my lowest beta of the 3 (740 13dp5dt). There’s a wide range of normal. Try not to read into it too much.

Thank you. I know I sound ungrateful but it took awhile to get DH on board with this third kid at all so twins wouldn’t go over too well

My 2 successful pregnancies started with betas around 3000. The first was an FET; beta at 14dp5dt was 2887. Second pregnancy was a surprise, but we estimated that the first beta was drawn at 17dpo, and it was 2900. Both successful, singleton pregnancies. Both girls!

Congrats, OP!
