Sensory processing issues and supplements

Anonymous
Anyone use nutritional supplements on their SPD kids which they find particularly beneficial? We tried Methyl B12, but I never thought it did much of anything. However, I do think we get good results from both Magnesium and L-Carnitine.

Just thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone has something useful to share.

We do fish oil, Vitamin E Complete 8 (neuropathy in face and fingers has disappeared, she can blow bubbles and tie shoes ) and Acetyl-L-Carnitine (supposed to be more neuroactive). We've had amazing results. The carnitine in particular seems to have really helped with expressive language and working memory. We had bloodwork done and DC's carnitine level was low, which was when we started supplementing.

My son has some mild sensory issues and I use fish oil as well as a daily multivitamin. How much fish oil do other people give their kids? I've also found that epsom salt baths are good for my DS before bed.

We use the single-serving packets from Coromega. 1 packet per day. Anyone else?

I would love to hear more about supplementation for SPD. My DS has a few sensory issues, mostly vestibular and also a little under-sensetive to touch. Huge hugger

Does anyone use Kids Calm magnesium?

How much epsom salts? How often? DC has some tics and I've heard that it can be particularly helpful for that.

1 - 2 cups per bath, work your way up though to that amount

Thanks 20:45. Do you do it every night? We've slacked off to bathing only 2-3 times per week in the winter, would that be enough?

At first yes, but now we only take a bath 2-3 times a week. I also give DD a t of nordic naturals each day (helps with dry skin as well as the sensory stuff)

I think there is a magnesium lotion that you can rub on the skin. Google it and see. That way you can use it everyday.

For those using carnitine. Where do you get it? I have only seen gelcaps and my son can not swallow those yet. What dose? He is 7.
