Is there a BEST laptop for online teaching?

Anonymous
I'm a special education teacher who will be doing distance teaching for at least the first semester of this year. Currently, I am using an older MacBook Pro ( early 2014, 1.4ghz intel core i5, 4 GB 1600MHZ). I didn't teach in the spring due to maternity leave, but have engaged in some online professional development using Zoom, which has not gone 100% smoothly (freezing screens, kicked out of zoom, etc). My husband and I are in agreement that its time for a new computer. My instinct is to go for the 16 inch MacBook pro, because I feel like I'll appreciate those extra 3 inches when staring at a screen all day!

Before I go ahead and splurge big time, are there other options out there that would be great/better for distance teaching? I've been a Mac user since college, but if there is something out there that's better than a Mac for this, I'm all in!

Thanks for any insights!

A college professor friend uses an iPad pro with a pen. The key is to be able to write/draw on the white board just as he did during normal in-person classes.

Here's some guidance from Duke university:
