Ellicott City - Shipleys Grant

Hello. We’re considering purchasing a TH in the Shipleys Grant neighborhood of Ellicott City. The schools are Bellows Spring ES, Mayfield MS and Long Reach HS. I know these aren’t the “best” of schools For Howard County but looking to see if anyone can give feedback on them. Thank you.

I’m bumping because I looked there too. I grew up in Howard County and love that area in general. But I also don’t know much about the high school.

I would not have a problem sending my kids to any of these schools. How old are your kids? Long Reach High School is often maligned, but I know families whose kids have absolutely loved it there. Unfortunately that school, like its neighbor Howard High School, is very over crowded right now. How old are your children? A new HS is planned for the fall of 2023, which will result in another round of redistricting which will change what high schools look like.

We still have preschoolers so I'm well aware that the schools will probably change many times before they enter HS. Just trying to get a better sense of the area's schools!
