No Phone, TV, or Internet

We have Comcast internet, cable TV, and landline service (landline is for our alarm system and Nest home control). For about 5 years, the "box" that provides our service has been sitting in a neighbor's yard across the street from our house uncovered with exposed wiring. My husband has called Comcast every year asking for that box to be covered. This past Thursday, gardeners came through and accidentally cut the wire, taking out all our service. Comcast sent tech's out on Friday afternoon and they "fixed" everything. Low and behold, by Saturday morning, all service was out again. Comcast sent techs out again this afternoon and they spent about 5 minutes looking at the box and testing the signals to "diagnose" a cut wire underground. So, now they need to put in a ticket with the county to dig up the neighborhood street to fix this wire. They estimate 14 business days to be back up and running.

We are furious. How is it that techs "fix" a problem on Friday and by Sunday, the entire neighborhood street has to be torn up? We work from home, are social distancing due to my husband's health (just had cancer surgery a few months ago), and have 3 kids under 7 who are also finishing up the last bits of distance learning. We called Verizon to see if we could do a switchover to FIOS and they have no techs to do the install before July (due to COVID).

Does any of this seem reasonable? Does anyone have any thoughts about how to get some kind of internet and cable service this week? Not being able to work, do telemedicine appointments, finish school assignments for two weeks isn't an option.

Comcast will never do it that quickly and you are better off switching to Verizon.
