Change Letter Accents on Mac OS for Polish Language

I do a fair amount of work that regularly involves writing a few words in Polish and German. I can press and hold to get all but one of the accented letters (a) of the Polish alphabet. I’d like to swap out one of the default letters (maybe we) for the accented a. To date I have been unable to find instructions online to do this. I know I could set up for a foreign keyboard, but that’s overkill since the documents are written in English. I’m not usually writing more than a couple foreign words. At most I might write a paragraph but that’s not typical.

Anyway, I’m tired of copying and pasting an accented Polish ‘a’ into my docs when I can press and hold for all my other accented letters (for example, an a with an umlaut).
