windshield replacement

Anonymous
The windshield on our car cracked during the recent snow storm. Anyone know of a service that will come to our house and replace the windshield or a place in NW DC/Silver Spring where we can take the car to get it replaced? Also any idea about how much a new windshild will cost?
Thanks.

it depends on your car. just call and ask for a price quote, and double check if your insurance covers it.

i just paid out of pocket for my windshield and it was about $250.

if your crack is less than the size of a dollar bill, they can repair it instead of replacing it.

i recommend royal auto glass. they were cheaper than safelite when i checked. both do at-home service.

I recently had my windshield replaced by Virginia Glass and they did a great job. They have three locations, but the closest to DC is in Tyson's Corner. You can find there website here:

As the previous poster said, check with your insurance because it may cover it. Again, as the previous poster said, if the damage is smaller than a quarter, it can be sealed. However, despite what the television ads say, it probably will not be fixed so well that you can't see it. Functionally, it will be okay, but visually you will likely still see a chip.

Op. Thanks for the suggestions. Have been calling around and am a little shocked about the difference ($100+) in price from the various places. Royal Glass is the cheapest so far and they will come to my house to replace the glass.
