| We are planning a move later this year from the city. This seems like a silly question but our experience on the hill is everyone does nanny shares. We are moving close in Bethesda/Chevy Chase. I am wondering if this is a thing or we should consider alternative options. |

Of course!
You just need to find someone who lives reasonably close to you - preferably in the same neighborhood within walk I distance. |
| Yes, absolutely they do. I see posts on NextDoor all the time. |
| Yes. Lots. |
| How old is your child? |
| Check your in-home childcare regulations. It’s illegal in Montgomery County. |
Based on what? Lots of people have a nanny share. |
Call up your county in-home childcare regulations office. A huge issue is insurance. No one will cover an accident for the visiting child, if the home isn’t licensed for childcare. |
What the county regulations require is a separate issue from what insurance will cover. And you still haven't pointed to anything in Montgomery County that would prohibit a nanny share. I've looked through those regs for other reasons and I don't recall seeing anything on a nanny share, but I admittedly wasn't looking for that. |

It explicitly states that anything else other than licensed centers or home daycares are illegal. There were three families who wanted to do a share together a few years ago. I’m sure you could find the thread if you searched for it. I called, it’s illegal for a nanny to care for more than one family at the same time. |
Perhaps look more closely if you want to learn how nanny shares are illegal in Montgomery County. |
Nanny shares are not legal in Montgomery County. |
Yep. They are illegal. |
