Dukem on U street is very good, Etete has slightly better food but is posher, smaller, and more cramped.

I second Etete. Zed's in Georgetown is pretty good too. Certainly not the best in D.C., but if you have out of town guests maybe you'd prefer to take them around Georgetown after your meal?

I like Meskarem in Adams Morgan but I admit I haven't been to other places to compare...

Another plug for Meskarem. I like it better than Zed's.

Well, there are also great places to go around U street. Most of them probably catering to a hipper crowd than most of us parents though!

All up and down Columbia Pike in Arlington, VA. That is where all the locals go.

Etete!! So good.

I HATE Meskerem. It's expensive and not as good as other places. Love Dukem but have gotten sick there a couple of times. I like Etete best.

Is Fasika's still around? I really liked them.

Shagga in Hyattsville is AMAZING! I'm so glad they opened.

Lalibela on 14th (logan circle) - very homely feel to it...

We LOVED Fasika's but it burned down about 2 years ago and they couldn't get it together to reopen it.
