Question about Traveling with Long Poles

Anonymous
My son will be flying for a few prospect days, and he is a long pole. How should we pack his stick for the trip? Fishing rod case? Something else? Obviously, we can’t carry the pole on the plane.

Thanks in advance.

I went the durable and cheap way. I went to home depot and bought a length of PVC pipe and end caps. One end was glued and fixed and the other end i glued a threaded connector and screwed on an end cap. All in it cost me about $30 but it is durable as can be. I made straps for it eventually but it wasn't necessary.

I don't have a picture of mine but I found a picture of one searching:

It's a little investment in time but it will serve him forever.

Hope that helps.

I have used a fishing rod case, which at least for mine required removing the heads. I have also used this bag - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019BGD1E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Both work fine. The fishing rod case is more durable. The bag is much easier to deal with.

Pool noodle for cushioning

The one time my son flew with his, we used a ski bag. We used clothes around it for cushioning but like the pool noodle idea.

Not OP. Thanks to the PPs for the creative suggestions. I love the PVC pipe and pool noodle ideas. They sound sturdier than the fishing rod case we've been using.

Our DS takes off heads for travel.

My son used my golf travel bag. I think he took heads off. But was able to put his lacrosse bag for pads inside and another bag for clothes

Great ideas. Thanks

Yes…take the heads off so if the luggage is lost you have the heads in the travel carry on bag

We bought a travel ski bag off Amazon - it was like 50. Worked great ! Been to 3 away tournaments on a plane and no issues.
