I'm unpacking my DD's baby clothes to get ready for our new baby due soon and while I know when I saved the clothes they did not have visible stains many of them now have the tell-tale yellow spit up stains on the collar and other areas.
Has anyone resurrected clothes like this before? I've read that you can lay them in the sun-but how does that work? Put stain remover on first? wet? dry? how long? Or are there other methods that have worked for you? I'm not afraid to use "harsh" stain removers if they work (I can always rewash and rinse after the stain in out). |
Soaking them for hours in a mix of powdered OxiClean and regular Dawn dish soap in warm water worked for me in this case. For really stubborn stains, leaving the clothes out in the sun can help. I just got the clothes damp and left them outside - no extra stain removers required at that point. |
Good lord, you'll spend more money on laundry products than the clothes cost! Just toss and buy inexpensive new clothes. |
Same thing happened to my son's clothing when I got it out to sort in preparation for baby #2. I washed all the clothes and hung on our deck to dry in the sun. All the stains came out. It was breastmilk spitup fwiw, not sure if formula stains would come out as easily. |
