PT for infant at Georgetown--How long were you on the waitlist?

Anonymous
My daughter was referred to Georgetown Hospital for PT. Unfortunately, I have been told there is a 6 month wait to get in to the PT clinic. My DD is already in DC Early Intervention PT at our home, but needs hospital based PT as well. How long was your wait to get to PT at Georgetown? I am unable to use obvious alternatives such as the Hospital for Sick Children and Children's Hospital because they do not accept our insurance.

We have been on the waitlist for a few weeks and were told it would be a month or two.

We started PT for my DD at GUH in September. First appointment was 8 weeks from when I called. One of the PTs for out-patient infants/children is leaving soon (moving), so that may be why the wait times are longer. FWIW, the staff there is outstanding.

keep calling and asking. also get your name on Children's Hospital Waitlist.

It really depends on the case load and how quickly they are able to get a new staff to fill the position that just vacated.

We were being seen by the PT who just left so we were moved onto another PTs schedule.

The issue with pediatric PT is that it is really hard to forecast how long a child with need PT - in contrast adults it is usually a very short period of time. My son has been getting PT for about 18 months - initially 2 times a week, now every other week.

We got in about two years ago too. I think the PT waitlist was a couple of months. Speech and OT are longer, but the staff are amazing. I would probably take a bullet for Sheila Skinner (SLP) for all that she's done for my child.

Thank you to everyone who responded. To answer this question, after being referred at the end of November, my DD has an appt for the first of March at Gtown PT.
