What do you do with the copy of your driver's license after the test drive at the dealership?

When you are shopping for a new car, prior to the test drive they ask you about your driver's license. Fair enough. They make a copy of it, okay too.
Then when the test drive is finished do you ask for the copy of the driver's license back since the process of test driving ended, and I assume it was
for their safety and protection only so they held the copy of your DL hostage so to speak. Now what? Do you take it back to protect your privacy
and vital info or are you obliged in some way to submit the rights to get it back?

Never crossed my mind until someone asked me. Now I wonder.

They also copy it at doctors offices. And hotels.

Most ID theft happens with data breaches and other cyber crimes.

Printers are capable of making multiple copies of something. If I were paranoid about a copy of my driver’s license being used for nefarious purposes I wouldn’t hand it over to begin with.
