| We need to replace our current RAV4. We've had RAV4s for almost 20 years and are planning to replace our dying 2007 model with a newer (used) one. We live close-in and don't rack up tons of mileage - mostly driving from MoCo to DC daily and nearby kids' activities. We have a Pilot that will be the car of choice for long drives or big groups of kids. Is it worth the few extra thousand dollars to get a hybrid RAV4? If you have a hybrid RAV4 are you happy with it? Thanks!! |

If you are thinking you'll save a lot in gas, you would be wrong. Until the 2019 model, the gas mileage on the Hybrid Rav4s have been in the low 30's! Like 34 mpg. My NON-HYBRID honda CRV gets 30 mpg. Why buy a hybrid (where you have 2 engines to maintain) to get a mere 4 mpg more?
So, no, I don't think the hybrid is worth it. BUT, if you are considering a hybrid b/c you value reducing your emissions, then YES, you should buy a hybrid b/c it will have less carbon emissions. |
