That's it. DC resident ticketed for speeding in MD. I was clocked by a cop going 44 in a 35 zone. DC does not give points for that offense even though MD does. Does anyone know of the point will transfer and my isunrancw company will find out? I just want to pay the fine and be done with it. Lesson learnt. |
| Not sure, but surprised they nabbed you for going just 9 miles over. Where in Bethesda were you? |
River road near Wilson. The part where the speed limit was changed recently from 45 to 35. |
| County cop? 1pt right? |
They have been aggressively enforcing this week on River. |
| Oh yes, your insurance co will find out. |
Such a crock of @#$, going 44 on River near Wilson isn't remotely unsafe. |
Worth fighting then? I’m happy to pay the fine and go to defensive driving or whatever to not get the point on my license. |
44 in 35 is exceeding the speed limit by 26%. That's a big difference. Also, if your car going 44 mph hits a pedestrian, there's about an 80% chance that the pedestrian will be severely injured, and a 65% chance that the pedestrian will be killed. For 35 mph, the chances are only (!) about 60% and 35%, respectively. That's a big difference, too. |
Yeah if you have time. Tell the judge you thought it was a 45 zone. |
| Are you sure you got a pt? |
This. I'd check on that. |
| I got a ticket in a state where points did not transfer. Paid the fine right away and did not get the point. |
Yep thought you couldn't because they can't prove who is the driver |
It was activity from a cop so the ticket is on my license. |
