OTF is opening in my town and I signed up for the free week to see if I like it. However, the heart rate monitor is not optional for those who want to do the free week and is not returnable. I don’t want to be out $100 if I don’t want to continue the membership. I’m looking at used options on eBay, etc but thought I’d see if any former orange theory folks are interested in getting rid of theirs for about $50.
If this is not appropriate/against the rules I apologize and please report it! |
| i haven't done OT so apologies if this is a stupid question but do you have to have an OT heart monitor? If you can have any kind, there are plenty of cheaper ones on amazon/best buy etc |
Not a stupid question, I asked when I was signing up. In general you don’t - you can use any heart rate monitor or none at all and still take a class. But those that are taking advantage of the “founders” rates and free opening week are being required to buy the official monitor, probably to keep numbers down so they’re not inundated with people taking advantage of free classes with no intention of having a membership and also probably just to shake us down for money. I don’t know if that’s a company wide policy or just how this studio manager is choosing to do it. |
| I go to OT classes abs haven’t signed up yet for a membership - I’ve just been paying the drop-in fees. I rent a monitor - it’s $5 for a waist monitor and $10 for wrist I believe. I’ll buy one soon thoug bc I’m liking the classes...... |
| Try Facebook marketplace. There are several for sale for $50-55. |
