| As the title says, I think I have a vvvvfl. I had a miscarriage a few months ago. Is there anything I should do or not do before I can see a doctor after the long weekend? Should I basically lie on the sofa? Or just skip the gym? Coffee, sex, etc.? |
| You have a what? |
| A very faint positive on a pregnancy test. Sorry! |
|
Don't do any vigorous exercise. Walking is fine. Coffee is not proven to have any effect in moderation but I'd probably skip it unless I really couldn't function without it and had to.
However, the vast majority of miscarriages happen due to the embryo not being viable, and not due to anything you did or didn't do. I'm so sorry for your recent loss. Fingers crossed for this one. |

Nothing really to do.
I would take another test tomorrow morning. When I had a squinter of a line and I went back and forth thinking my eyes were playing tricks on me, it was a clear positive the next day. |

Yes, I have a stronger line today. Still very nervous. My Hcg never got that high last time, though I made it to over six weeks and saw a sac on the u/s. Praying the Hcg is better this time.
I know it's usually just a matter of a healthy egg or not, and I'm very AMA, so I can't control that. Just trying to do everything I can control--so yes, no gym classes and no coffee. What about sex?? |
It’s all probably okay, because there isn’t much you can do to cause a miscarriage or prevent one if it’s going to happen. But, if you’re one who would second guess everything you did or blame yourself if you do miscarry, then skip it. The one thing to avoid is overheating and elevating your core temperature, so worth it to avoid hot baths, saunas or hot tubs. |

a cup of coffee, sex and moderate exercise is all fine.
(I had my first baby at age 42) and a subsequent miscarriage. I was much healthier for the miscarriage i.e. drinking less before hand, etc. At this stage there is really nothing you can control. I know its maddening...just no tequila shots or 10 espresso shot and your fine. |

not much to be done but try to relax. start taking a prenatal every day if you haven't been. might as well take one with methlyfolate rather than folic acid if you have never tested if you process folic acid properly-- they are slightly more expensive but folate is most important early in the pregnancy.
it is several weeks before the embryo starts getting whats in your bloodstream, so don't freak out about the wine last night or coffee. sex is fine.
you'll probably want to see if your dr can order a beta and then another two days later to see if hcg is doubling appropriately. |
