Any luck with sex 4-5 days pre-ovulation?

DH was traveling and we could only dtd once during my possibly fertile window, @ 4-O or 5-O. (I wasn't diligent with the OPKs since he wasn't around, so that's my best guess.) Anyone have success with that timing?

I believe sperm can live up to 5 days, but most die within the first 2 days. So there's definitely a chance of fertilization, but not as high as it would be in that "magic window" of 1-3 days prior to ovulation.

I got pregnant with DD#2 and DC# 3 both four days prior to ovulation. Had sex Friday night and ovulated on Tuesday. I was sure they dated my second pregnancy wrong because my Dh was traveling, but I guess it’s possible... third pregnancy (surprise baby) the condom stayed inside Afterwards and we used a condom every other day... definitely possible 4 days

It's possible! Didn't happen to me, but happened to a woman who was in a charting group I used to belong to. Sex at O-5 (and she knew her O date because she was charting) and an oops baby.

Here's a study I found on Google about days pre-ovulation and conception. Essentially, your chances are best at O-2 to O, but sex at O-4 or O-5 *could* result in a conception. https://nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199512073332301

I can’t remember exactly how many days early it was but when TTC #3 we had to DTD at least a few days early because of travel as well. I figured it was worth a shot but didn’t think I would get pregnant but I did.
