I've done this twice before and it worked out well -- one had 39k, the other had 23k.
Now as a parent with two small kids I want maximum safety technology on an SUV, but also want to pay under $30k. Saw an Acura MDX with 50k miles on it that meets my needs but would prefer less mileage. |
| Most dealers won't sell a CPO car with over 55,000 miles or so. That said, CPO is sort of a rip off. Are you really worried about a 2-3 year old Acura (which is basically a Honda) running into issues and needing repairs? |
|
My last 4 cars have all been Hondas or Subarus that I bought with 100k+ miles. They are great.
CPO with less than 50k miles is almost certain to be fine unless it was wrecked (would not be CPO) or the previous owner let the oil run low and wrecked the motor. |

I've bought 2 CPO cars and my general rule of thumb is not to a buy a car where the previous owner put more miles on it per year than I would. I easily put 15k+ miles per year on my car so if a car had more miles than that put on it a year I'd be a little worried.
As far as brand I think a Toyota or Honda with 50K or less miles on it is fine and has a lot of life left in it. I like buying CPO for the extended warranties and inspections that come with the car. If a car isn't eligible to be sold as CPO I'd be worried as to what was wrong with it. |
| I like buying CPO cars coming off three year leases with about 25,000 miles on them. You'll pay a modest premium over one with 40-50,000 miles but I think it's worth it. |
Agree with this. |

You have to have a low IQ to buy a CPO car.
It is an artificial thing tagged to a car to knock up price and adds no value. |
My last CPO car needed a $4,000 repair 15 months in. CPO mark up paid for itself overnight. |
| I am bringing my 2016 CPO Mazda in next week..the blind spot warning is not working. |
NP here and the better question is whether you could have bought an after-market extended warranty on the vehicle for cheaper than the CPO markup. Generally, the answer is yes. |
Does Mazda have a shitty non-standard OEM warranty that wouldn't otherwise cover the car or do you just have a ton of miles on it? |
