| There's carpeting under our kitchen table, unfortunately, so we're searching for a large rubber mat that can go under a highchair. Suggestions? Thank you! |
| I don't know about a rubber mat, but any baby store sells vinyl splat mats that will protect the carpet. You should be able to find them next to the high chairs in the stores. I liked the thin vinyl mat because you could toss it into the sink to wash the crud off it. I don't know what you would do with a rubber mat. |
| the best solution for us was a chair mat designed for offices from Staples |
| Get a labrador retriever. They come in yellow, black or brown. We have black and it works great! |
| Shower curtain liner cut down to the size of your choice. It's cheap, easy to clean and easy to pack when you go visiting. |
| No need. Graco makes a clear plastic circle mat, very easy to clean, that goes under the high chair (and a rubber mat might put the chair off balance). Available at BuyBuyBaby for about 10 bucks. |
| I also like the clear circular vinyl mat. Our high chair is in the dining room, and the clear mat lets the oriental carpet underneath the dining table show through, for a more seamless look (instead of something kid-like that would clash with the carpet). $8 at Buy Buy Baby. |
| Labrador - LOL LOL LOL |
Same here. It was much easier to clean since it was hard. I just took a sponge and washed it off. Later, I used it under the easel so paint wouldn't get on the floor. |

| How about an oilcloth or laminated cotton tablecloth from etsy? |
Ditto this. |

I bought several feet of the plastic carpet runner on a roll from Home Depot. They have 2 types - one that has spikes on the back for going over carpet. I bought the kind without to protect food from getting in the cracks of my hardwood floors. They are only about $1-$2 per linear foot.
The runners are about 3 feet wide, but I bought 2 rows of about 10 feet long overlapped them a little and taped them together on the back. I leave them under the high chairs permanently and just wipe it all down with a sponge after mealtime. It provides a large area to collect food without damaging carpet or hardwood and a larger area than a chair mat. Of course, I have twins and 2 high chairs so I needed a larger area anyway. |
