So tired of styling my hair just to step out my door and have it all shot to hell. I remember the grandmas of my youth wearing what looked to me like "Babushka" style hair coverings that tied under the chin, but they were made of plastic. Shaped like a scarf folded into a triangle, but made of plastic. Anyone know what this is called and where to buy one?
I find wearing a scarf over my hair helps me get to work with my style somewhat intact, but I need a bigger, badder hair preserver. Thanks! |
| Like a rain bonnet? |
| I think it's a bonnet. You should be able to find them at drug stores. |
| Please tell me where and when you will be going out in public rocking one of those! I have to see it! Just kidding, sort of. They do make sense. Someone should invent a stylish version... |
| Just saw a little old lady wearing one! My mom wears them too, and she's no little old lady, but she is 70... |
| OP here, thanks I found some "rain bonnets" - but why DO they have to be so ugly? Can't someone make a plastic scarf that looks reasonably fashionable? |
| Maybe you could cover it up with a bigger and more attractive silk scarf? I hear you tho. Nothing worse then spending forever doing your hair up to perfection only to have it look like a rats nest 5 minutes after you step outside. |
| Oh god, please go to the nearest salon and have your hair straightened. |
Absolutely do NOT do this. Curls and waves are coming back -- look at al the frizz in Vogue the past two months. That extreme is always followed by prettier more relaxed curls and waves, with straightening you really limit the variety to your look. Also, who gives a damn about the bonnets, what? You probably wear them for a grand total of 20 minutes a day (combined), right? and if that look REALLY bothers you, like a PP already mentioned you can always cover them with a scarf kindova Jackie O style. |
It's a matter of taste.. they are worn by women of all ages, but over time, have gained the "granny" reputation :/ if worn right, they actually don't look that bad
