I can't afford to go to my regular stylist for cut and color ($200) - and I am desperate!
I have long, layered hair and haven't had a trim in 6 mos. I was thinking about trying the Aveda Institute in Chinatown. Any other suggestions? I am afraid of wrecking my hair, but it looks so awful now... Help! |
| What color are you going for? I have mediterranean hair, so I like it dark and its a little wavy. I love going to Turkish hair stylists because they seem to know how to make my hair look its best. I go to Elite in Glover Park. They aren't cheap exactly, but they're less than a high end salon. I think I pay about $120 for cut and color, but its been awhile since I'm pregnant now and haven't colored my hair since I found out. I can't wait for the baby to come so I can finally dye it!!! Its looking so dull. I know they say you can dye your hair when pregnant but hubby was against it and I figured why not avoid it. |
| I have had great experience with the Aveda Institute, although it takes a while, because the students are slower than seasoned professionals and they need to get approval from their instructors. |

OP here - thanks for the recs!
My hair is lightbrown (growing in darker with gray tho. Waaaah.) with highlights, and it is fairly straight. I just need base color and a good trim. The Aveda Institute seems like a great deal, about $70 for both services. I don't care if it takes long, time I have, money I don't. As long as I don't look worse after I walk out of there! |
