Can anyone here let me know what I should expect in terms of decent family style housing (as opposed to a college student level expectation) in these two areas? Our budget is 2k a month. TIA

I think that might be a little tough. We paid close to $4k in Cambridge last year for a really dated 4bd/2ba. And that was technically a 4bd - our two kids shared a bedroom and the others were a playroom and office.
Housing has gone crazy in that area. I used Trulia rentals to search. Have you looked in Boston before? You usually get stuck paying a one months fee to the realtor. |
A dated 2 bed in that area is going to be $2,200 or more. Do you have to be in those cities? I’d look at Malden, or if it’s just red like access, Quincy and/or Braintree.
Red like = Red line
We live in Somervlike and wanted to pay 2800 for a 2 or 3 bed. We pay 3100k a month. Granted we are in an awesome location. As long as you are no where near a T and have cars, you might be able to find something farther out.
You could also try Waltham or on the commuter rail.
