Positive OPK 4 days in a row?

Anonymous
I got my period back 3 months ago after stopping nursing for 2+ years. Cycle has been around 33-35 days. This month, I tried using the ovulation strips because I would like to conceive again. From CD 12-18, the test was very clearly negative. CD 19, it looked positive, but control line and test line were approx. equal color. CD 20, the test line was darker than control line, so I thought the day before was not really positive. But, CD 21 and CD 22 the line was again very dark, although maybe not quite as dark as CD 20 but certainly as dark as control line. Shouldn't it have dropped off quickly though? Does this mean I'm just not ovulating?

I'm feeling discouraged because after finally getting my cycle back 2+ years after giving birth and feeling like I could maybe actually try again, it seems like maybe my fertility is actually nonexistent.

Do you have pcos?

OP here - no, I had/have Hypothalamic Amenorrhea and did IVF, but got pregnant naturally between rounds the first time (after an IVF miscarriage).

Mine tended to be positive for 36 hours, though that is less than 4 days. But they can be hard to read. My solution was to use two methods simultaneously -- the Wondfo OPKs and the Clearblue kind with the smiley face. The Clearblue was harder to satisfy. I also temped.

Could you be pregnant already? Take a pregnancy test.

In the event you're not pregnant, I would definitely start temping. With that history, I wonder if you have a history of undetected chemical pregnancies.

Same recommendation you'll see all over this board: read Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

Let us know how it goes on this round and best of luck!!

Thanks all. Not pregnant, I'll start temping and do ClearBlue OPK's next month. I'll also dust off my TCOYF book

When that does happen (4 days in a row), when should you have sex? This also happened to me recently but it was 3 days in a row. The instructions say that the surge happens on the first positive stick and you can begin immediately. But I wasn't convinced that I would ovulate within 12-36 hours. I have tried to temp but I go to work super early, and I hate fumbling around in the dark for the thermometer. But I guess that is the only way to know for sure.

Temping is the only way to know for sure. I will say though that I had success temping over multiple years by just getting up and going to the bathroom and taking my temp while I sat on the toilet. Convenient to test urine at the same time. I know everyone says you have to lie in bed, not move, read it in the dark, etc, but that was not true for me. Give it a try.
