Spanx and other myths when TTC

Anonymous
This is the dumbest question ever, but my old school mother told me not to wear spanx or control top tights during my fertility window and right after (but workout leggings are ok). She said it could restrict blood flow. Does anyone have any truth to this, or is it BS? She also said don't run during the days of the fertility window and during the luteal phase. She does have an anatomy degree, though that was a long time ago.

I ran during my luteal phase and also through about 30 weeks of pregnancy. My kid came out just fine.

I was training for a half marathon when I got oops pregnant with my first at age 29. I ran 5+ miles about when he was implanting. Also wore all the spanx around that time.

The real reason not to wear spanx is that as soon as you get pregnant, you'll stop. And then you'll "look" pregnant immediately. My sweet, ever-indiscreet aunt kept INSISTING I had twins because I was "so huge so soon." Look lady, usually I have the goods all tucked up, this is just what I look like..

I bought maternity spanx...they were awesome for belly support until around 35 weeks where they self-destructed

OMG this is so true. "No step-mother, it's not twins, I am just not binding my mid-section per usual!"

Gah - I had at least 3 people ask me if it was twins. I gave them the ugly death stare. HATE this remark!

How is your pelvic floor? (Not snark! Truly curious)

I'll occasionally leak pee when I sneeze, but I think that's pretty normal. I should do kegels!

I do wish I'd quit sooner. I was sooo much more comfortable once I switched to the elliptical!

This is OP. So the general consensus is to wear spanx and keep running, it's not going to effect implantation, etc.
