I have a one year old son and am pregnant again with my second around August. Now, I'm considering getting a double stroller since my kids will be close in age and I'm thinking it would probably be easier to tote them around in a double instead of having one walking (and probably getting tired at times) and one in a stroller. Anyone have children similar in age can give me some advice on this? Also, is the side-by-side better than the other type of stroller. What is your opinion? I'd appreciate it, thanks. |
I would definitely get a double stroller. I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old, and for awhile I thought my older son would just walk, but it seemed immediately after the baby was born, he wanted to ride in the stroller again. We first bought the Joovy Caboose, but my older son wanted to sit, and the bench on it was not enough for him. So when the baby could sit up we got a side by side Chicco and it is definitely worth it now. Congrats! |
Hi there. My son was 1.5 yo when my daughter was born last June. I would definitely recommend getting a double stroller for exactly the reason you mentioned, eg. that it is much easier to lug both around. In fact, I can't imagine getting around without it at this point!
We ended up getting the Graco DuoGlider. We looked at some of the side-by-side models and found it a bit difficult to get around -and through doors!- with it so we plumped for the front-to-back model. In general I like the DuoGlider-- both seats are adjustable (the back seat recline to a fully flat position which we really used when our daughter was in her first few weeks), it is compatible with our car seats, and it has tons of basket space underneath (which is how I grocery shopped). My main gripe about it is that it is pretty bulky and heavy, but in the end we figured that it wasn't like I was lifting it in and out of the car 50 times a day. You probably already know this, but Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg has a huge selection of strollers and very helpful/knowledgeable salespeople where you can go and inspect different models. |
Agree with PP - and I would opt for one with two regular seats versus the attachment tandem seat. |
I have a 3.5 year old and a 6 month old, and while the 3.5 year old can walk, she sometimes doesn't want to. I bought a Phil and Ted, and love it. |
Go for the double. Mine are 3 1/2 yrs apart and oldest loves a ride everyonce in a while, like end of day at the zoo. I have the bob. love it. |
Look for one where you can snap in your infant car seat. It's going to be a few months before the infant can sit by him or herself in most strollers. |
