High GPA, no AP's

Anonymous
What are some colleges that might accept a kid who has a 3.8 or higher GPA but has never taken an AP class? I would especially be interested in hearing about VA colleges
Anonymous
That the reason the kid has a high GPA is bc they didn't challenge themselves.

3.8 is not high at all

Did they have the option to take APs or are they at a HS that does not have them? Does the student have a class rank?
Anonymous
Did the kid take any honors classes?
Anonymous
Out of state public, though not UMichigan, Wisconsin, none of the top 30

Oh do shut up

The missing piece is the SAT/ACT score.

Any Va private would gladly take this student. As would any Va publics except UVA, WM, JMU, VT, CNU, and Mason (if you're NoVa)

Really depends.private or public?

Without AP's that 3.8 is on a 4 point scale.

This is a completely hypothetical question. Let's say kid has really good extracurriculars, SAT scores that are the norm for top colleges, and straight A's in non AP classes. School offered AP classes but student chose not to take them. What colleges would such a student be likely to get into?

Really any Virginia private, like University of Richmond or Washington &a Lee. And CNU would not take this student?

Are people serious here?

No honors whatsoever (ie. a joke of a schedule) and even with that, only a 3.8/4.0?

No, Washington and Lee and Richmond will not admit this student. Get a grip before passing on awful advice.

Without hooks, 3rd tier with no merit.

One data point - 4.0 uwGPA and only 2 or 3 AP got into UMD but no merit. Yes, high SAT score too.
