Does WIS have a bus?

Anonymous
I am quite interested in the Washington Int'l School for my young daughter, but I live in Bethesda, and it would be incredibly inconvenient to have to drive her to Georgetown for the primary school or Cleveland Park for later years. Does the school have a bus or do students carpool? Or do most students simply live near the school? I'd rather not move out of Montgomery Co.

On another WIS topic, has anyone here experienced their new Chinese language program for their child? Just wondering how it's going.

There's a bus between the 2 campuses, but that's it. Many students do carpool, however, and I'm sure that many middle- and upper-school kids take the metro or metrobus to school by themselves. From close-in Mont Co, I doubt you would have trouble finding a carpool partner.

I don't know much about the Chinese program, since it begins in middle school when students add in a third language (or fourth or fifth in many cases). We're years away from that.

Good luck with admissions and your decision.

I second what the PP said - I live in Bethesda and carpool every day with another family to the primary campus. It works out very well - and it's not really that far of a commute. Well worth it!

Once you get to middle school, Bethesda to Cleveland Park via metro is an option

I don't have kids at WIS but I do live in Bethesda and the Georgetown campus is no more than 15 minutes from my house. I drive my kids farther to school than that. If you like the school it seems like the drive shouldn't be too much of a barrier especially if you can carpool.

My DC attends WIS and there are several classmates coming from Gaithersburg and further who commute to school everyday. We also commute but from a different sector of the city. Believe me the commute is well worth it.
