Clearblue Evap vs. FRER

Anonymous
I took a Clearblue pregnancy test the other day and a faint positive showed up. Took a FRER this morning and I am pretty sure its negative. Are the HCG sensitives the same the two tests? If FRER is negative then I am not pregnant right?

How many DPOs are you? FRER is very sensitive so I would assume you are not. But if you are early then maybe not.

I actually have no idea ... I am 6 months pp and haven't had my first period yet. I thought I would have gotten it by now and haven't so I figured I would take a pregnancy test. Was on the mini-pill and a bit nervous I was pregnant. Took the Clearblue test and there was a faint line but wasn't sure if it was an evap or a line. Took a FRER this morning with SMU and I am pretty sure its negative. Just trying to be cautious!

Probably he first was an evap line - if FRER is negative then it is very unlikely you are pregnant, though I would try again in a few days. Also I would get an IUD - mini pill doesn't work unless you take it at the same time every day.

For what it's worth, I got a faint positive on a Wondfo and the FRER was negative either that same day or the next day (I can't remember). Subsequent FRERs were positive. I think the published sensitivity can sometimes differ from the actual sensitivity of individual tests. Either way you should know within a couple of days if you retest with FRER, as it is sensitive enough to turn positive pretty early on.
