Does anyone know anything about these schools? I know one is a TAG school but the test scores are not as high as some of the schools in Bowie.

The population is different. I know people don't want to hear that, but there it is.

PP is completely right. The population is different and that often translates into lower test scores. That doesn't mean that the quality of education is better or worse. It just means the kids at the Bowie schools are better at taking standardized tests.
Go to the schools and check them out.

My son attend Mattaponi Elementary school and we love it. The parents, teachers and principal we all work together. The Teachers are wonderful and very helpful. The neighborhood is great, safe, and all the neighbors look out for the kids. Mattaponi is a Tag school. You can't just compare test scores and decide that is the best school and I am pretty sure the test scores are not a large margin maybe 5 to 10 points different. Mattaponi is a A plus school. Before we purchased our home here. I compared Mattaponi with schools in Rockville, Potomac and Chevy Chase and it was very compatible with those schools.

I am close to Marlton Elementary and Mattaponi but it depends on which side of Marlton you plan on buying your home, will determine which school your child will attend. If you live in the newer homes by the golf course. Your child will attend Mattaponi but if you are closer to the older homes. Your child will attend Marlton. Mattaponi don't have walkers. All of the kids ride the school bus. While Marlton kids in the neighborhood, they walk to school since they have side walks and a crossing guard. Its a wonderful community.

Thank you so much, that is good to know. Do you know what types of programs they have for gifted students? I think my home school is Marlton but Mattaponi would be the TAG school.

Also, do the schools lack resources in any way in terms of technology or books? How up to date are the classrooms and libraries? Is bullying a problem at the school?
