So what is your point. That is a nasty generalization for you to make. West Springfield basically refers to the neighborhoods and schools that feed into West Springfield High School. This area runs down Old Keene Mill Road, starting around the Daventry and Cardinal Forest communities (basically St. Bernadette's Catholic church) and goes into the outermost feeder schools for West Springfield HS, which include Orange Hunt, Hunt Valley and Sangster. The neighborhoods in Springfield feed into Lee HS. They are also more retail/urban-ish, while West Springfield is 100% suburban residential, with hardly a restaurant or store to speak of. Many of those areas, particularly the Cardinal Forest area, are plenty diverse. The designation has nothing to do with folks trying to separate themselves from the less affluent areas of Springfield proper. It has everything to do with the neighborhoods being very similar in housing and schools, and all of them feeding into West Springfield High School. You obviously are not familiar with the area or you would know this already without having to make it about race or income. |

| Personally I would start with the areas that would be a non-hellish commute for the income earners and narrow it down from there. I wanted to stay near metro and didn't want to be too far out, so I only considered houses feeding into Woodson, Oakton, Madison, Marshall and McLean. (I ruled out Falls Church HS and Stuart.) From there, you can narrow it down further by looking at test scores, demographics, great scores ratings at the elementary school level. You might also find that your housing budget makes the decision easier for you. |

How do you know you have the best principal in the county? Just curious? Was there a survey? Do they rate principals?
Not meant to be a dig, I know nothing about the school (or 95% of the schools in the area). But I am curious how you know you have the best principal |

+1. When there are over 125 elementary schools run by FCPS, referring to the "best principal" in the county is pointless. Maybe you meant the best principal in the City of Fairfax. Since there are a handful of schools in Fairfax City, that might be plausible. |
