Now, there is no point of going to GS-15 because very soon the cap of 14 and 15 would be same in DC area. Sigh!

Especially supervisory 15s.

2023 cap = $183,500

2024 non-locality raise = 4.7 %

$183,500 x 4.7% = $192,124

but the cap is only $191,900. Really opt? why short us 224? At the same time, it's only $224. still. pay me what you owe me!

so the cap increased by only 4.579% vs 4.7.

Actually the increase of $8,400 (191,900 minus 183,500) divided by $191,900 = 4.377%

Wrong.

183,500 * Y = 191,900

Y = 191,900/183,500

Y = 1.0457

= 4.57%

I stand corrected, but still not 4.7%

Dang man, that’s GS-15 level math. True genius.

The executive schedule, which the caps are based upon, does not have locality pay or adjustments. So there must be an alternative calculation that results in 4.57%.

Now, there is no point of going to GS-15 because very soon the cap of 14 and 15 would be same in DC area. Sigh!

Look at San Francisco, there GS-14 Steps 9 and 10 are at the cap, and the cap starts at Step 4 for a GS-15.

I’ve thought for years that there should be a supervisory pay scale vs non supervisory. Being a fed supervisor is incredibly hard.

14/7 over here, and pleased as punch with the increase!

When does this take effect? Is this contingent on a budget being passed?

have they published all of the tables yet?

Man you people act like you didn’t know government often pays less than private sector. No one is in government for the money. As a GS-15 step 6 supervisor, I’m delighted with the raise. Now I will finally make just over what I did when I left Biglaw as a fourth year associate 13 years ago! 😁

Seriously though I could have left any time. I love my work and the salary is enough to live the life I want. I have family members who wouldn’t make $190k with two salaries combined. Show some self-awareness.

That's why I rejected a few 15s to stay at my 14 (max) position. Not worth it with all the extra stress it brings by being a supervisor.

Another tone-deaf manager. If you are a 15/6, you don't really know how capped salary feels like. After 10 years of capped salary, come back and tell us about your self-awareness.
