What's up with youth sports in DC? Janney ES?

Seems to be just hate directed at Janney but all good I am sure they are too busy winning to worry about you losers.

Case and point on the environment and mentality at Janney Girls Basketball ("losers"....nice). Who knows....maybe they read this post. They didn't appear to run up the score tonight....for once. Kudos coaches.

So the other schools get a pass. Got it. Good luck everyone on your sports teams and being good fans for all teams finishing up their seasons and to those going to the playoffs. Go Janney!

Obviously you don't know sports. The other team I am sure had a major part in keeping the score in the 20's.

Nobody cares who’s winning in elementary school dear settle down

Then stop trolling an ES blog.

Was at today’s home game against Murch and it was perfectly respectable, with a sizable and loud Murch contingent. The gym was totally silent for free throws. Parents cheered for the Murch team when they were able to score. Seems like this entire thread is overblown.

I agree. It was a great crowd and both teams played hard. People should go to a game and see that the crowd is respectable and enjoys good effort from the visiting teams.

This is great to hear. I can tell you that was not the case for the game I saw. But if that's in the past and it's not going down like that anymore, then great. Stuff happens and sometime people make adjustments.

Wow you have bad info - so bad you must be a troll.

The scrimmage was on December 15th before the season even began and the second scrimmage was supposed to be the following week.

But thanks for praying for me though that makes it pretty unlikely you are a Janney parent!

Looks like your son's being beaten by girls was too much to continue with life for you. Hahahahahaha. Yes, trolling is fun.

LOL - only reason it was a game at all is the ref so tilted the floor. The entire thing was an embarrassment but I don't expect you to get that.

You can blame the ref if it makes you sleep better at night.

My god.....you are just proving the issue with the girls team adults.....parents and coaches. I'm embarrassed for you

I'm embarrassed for the weak sons you're raising 🤣

Agreed! Who knows. Maybe they read this post =) (Imagine if something positive happened from this forum for once!)

If its not happening anymore then lets move on.

You don't need to trap and aggressively steal the ball up 20-0.....especially in ES. Again, this is elementary school....not Middle/High School where I think you are probably right, harder to pull back. I don't think the goal should be to give kids a religious experience whether they question whether they should ever play the game again.

+1. Sadly, the problem OP noticed has been going on for many years. It’s gross. There are a couple of NW schools like this, some public and some private.

This is the pettiest thread on the pettiest site.

It’s a privileged school in DCPS and they can’t admit it (see this whole dumb thread about 10 year olds not understanding sportsmanship). These sports are an easy way to pop Janneys bubble because they showcase their ignorance via little kids bball.

Solution:
1) Janney parents can pretend they’re awesome and the handful parents defending Janney on here (already says enough they love DCUM) can keep it up on here until the end of time.

2) Non-Janney Parents got great examples to use about ignorance for their children and also how to not be those parents

Aaaaaand tonight Janney was up 20 in semi final game and their parents were complaining to ref about calls....yes.....complaining up 20.... an insurmountable lead at this age....thankfully the ref gave them a talking to. It's gross. The culture is disgusting. I had second hand embarrassment watching it

You guys do realize that Janney is playing their bench players in all these situations where they are up by 15 and 20 pts. I can understand hamstringing starters by making them dribble with their left or 3+pases before a shot, but not bench players. They only have so many opportunities.
