| and suggestions to those of us with the opposite problem to frizz? My hair, which is straight and soft, is just perfect dry weather, basically melts against my head in this friggin' humidity. My bangs are the worst. |
Mine too. I asked my stylist this past week what to do about humidity, and she said there's really not much you can do.
What seems to help me: I shampoo with a clarifying shampoo or something that doesn't say "conditioning" on it. And I use no conditioner on those days I know it's going to be bad (all of August). I use super-strength mousse (for me mousse works better than gel) and blow hair dry upside down (my style works with that, but yours might not). Then I blast the hair with the cold setting and make sure it's bone dry. Then I use Oribe hair wax (can't remember the name) in very small amounts. You could use spray instead if you want. My stylist said you need one product to put on before drying and one product afterward. Don't know how true that is, but for me, if I use more than two, my hair gets nasty. |
Thanks. I already do most of that, too, except the hair wax. I can't imagine how hair wax would help. Can you describe for me, please? Also, I find mouse too sticky in the summer and use an alcohol based root lifter by John Frieda instead of my winter product. I have long straight hair with bangs (blonde, mostly natural - hee hee). I end up having to keep the bangs pretty short in the summer because they have no body once I get outside in the humidity. I kind of sweep them to the side as much as possible. I would grow them out but I look much, much better with bangs than without (per lots of opinions) so that is not an option. I wish I looked good with my bangs in a barrett on top of my head, such a cute style but on me it looks totally dorky (like someone growing out their bangs). |
Yeah, I guessed you likely had blond hair. Apparently natural blonds have very thin strands of hair, but gazillions of hair follicles, more so than others do. So we have limp hair and lots of it.
This is the hair wax I use. It gives hold to hair without making it stiff like hair spray. Just a tiny bit rubbed on hands, and then “twisted” on pieces of hair. It gives a piecey, layered look. I’d probably take a tiny bit on my thumb and index fingers and “rub” it on the hair, near the tops of your bangs. The Oribe stuff I use washes out very easily, FWIW. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00203KPGY/ref=asc_df_B00203KPGY829921?smid=A3UHOJZVMEDE7Q&tag=shopzilla_rev_1027-20&linkCode=asn |
| I got some stuff at Aveda that is made to fight humidity. I forget the name (I'm sure any place that sells it could help you). It's a liquid. You rub just a little in your damp hair before blow-drying. For me it makes a huge difference. |

I think the Aveda product is this link (Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother). It is suppose to fight humidity for 12 hours. |
