| Can you eat foods with wine based sauces when you are ttc or pregnant? For example fish with a white wine and butter sauce or pasta with tomato and red wine in the sauce? My DH is saying I shouldn't...what do you all do) |
| Not a problem. Unless you're drinking a pint of sauce, the amount of alcohol is really low, and it may even cook off. But even if it doesn't it's still low. |
|
Yes, I did. Even fruits and fruit juices have a little alcohol in them, thanks to normal and natural fermentation. There's no way to completely avoid it.
Not only that, but there was a HUGE study that showed a little alcohol here and there had better outcomes for both mom and baby than abstaining. |
| You can eat or drink whatever you want until you test positive! You might not want to get X-rays or CT scans or scoop the litter box those two weeks, but otherwise drink up! |
|
Absolutely.
And read Expecting Better by Emily Oster for real, statistical information about what to do and what to avoid. |
| Get a grip people!! |
My lord. Tell your husband to fly a kite. Then eat your pasta, with sauce, in peace
|
| Be prepared for a micromanaging spouse during pregnancy, OP. The things you listed are fine. |
| Sorry, your DH is an idiot. |
| You're fine. The alcohol evaporates when heated. |
It actually doesn't. But it's still fine to eat a little alcohol in sauces, etc when you are pregnant. Let's not forget your liver does a great job of filtering out small amounts of alcohol, OP. That's all you'd be consuming in a sauce, anyway. Your DH needs a chill pill. |
Yup. And the sauces you mention have such a low diluted amount of alcohol anyway. |
Most of it does. |
Yes, it evaporates. |
| It's totally fine. And, I say this out of experience, OP: nip that husband body policing in the bud ASAP. It sounds like you are not pregnant yet, and once you are, it will only get worse. |
