Roses and Wisteria plant to bloom time.

Anonymous
I think I failed. I planted 3 roses and Wisteria (pruned to tree) March 25. So far I got nothing. Zip , Zilch, Nada. 2 of the 3 roses at least have green "branches". One looks like it is solid wood. The wisteria does nothing. When should I see a bloom? How can I tell if I failed and killed them all?
Or were they all just crap?
TIA

still too early for roses to bloom should start seeing some leaves though...

same on wisteria.

My shrub roses are leafed out and the wisteria is just starting to show leaves...

I would have recommended against pruning and planting at the same time. A lot of stress all at once...

Did you plant a bareroot rose or was it already growing? All of mature roses have tons of buds and one Austin rose is blooming. A newly planted rose might take a little longer to get up and running. As long as the plant looks healthy it is okay. No idea about wisterias.

It's too early for wisteria blossoms, but, in any case, wisteria can take a long time to get established, and even then, they don't always bloom. They can be very picky about their location. I had two that were about ten feet apart and one was covered with blooms and one had almost none. I wouldn't be surprised if a wisteria didn't bloom the first year. Also, some of them only bloom in Old wood, so pruning them in the late winter can keep them from blooming. I'd suggest you do some research on the type of wisteria you planted.
