When did your child start wearing a watch?

Was it helpful to have one for MS/HS? I know everyone has phones these days, but aren't watches quicker, less distracting? I can't seem to get my kids interested in "time" -- which seems strange to me b/c I remember thinking as a 7-8 yr old that having a watch was really cool and a grown up thing to have.

Get them a Michael Kors and they'll be interested

I remember feeling really proud of the watch I got in first grade

I'm not sure teens etc wear watches? I don't. I use my phone

DS has a couple but never wears them. DH recently gave him a Fitbit HR he wasn't using and DS will wear that.

One child started wearing a digital watch in 4th or 5th grade. Wears it every day (MS now).

Got a digital watch for the younger one, currently in 4th. Never wears it (but admittedly it's a crap watch).

None of my kids, 20's through tween, wear watches. I don't either. We all use our phones.

Same time they got their phone around 7-8th grade. Their phones are their watches these days.

4th grade (now 4th grader and 6th grader) since they need to get themselves up and ready for school and also get themselves to school on their own.

My eight year old has a cheap Amazon watch and loves it. It's one of his prize possessions, and I think with his ADD issues it helps him keep better track of time.

My dd's really wanted a fitbit for their birthdays, so my 10 year old and 8 year old dd's got one this year for their birthday. I like that they have the time, so that I can ask them what time it is. lol. My 8 year old is a bit on the heavy side, so I like that she is trying to make sure she is active. We saw the Dr today, and she thought it was a good thing too.
