Bar-T before/aftercare

Anonymous
Our school just went through the rebidding for aftercare providers and we're switching to Bar-T. I saw some negative reviews in the archives, but they were from a few years ago. Wondering if anyone has any recent experience to share, good or bad. I like our current provider, Kids Adventures, and had never heard of Bar-T until they announced this. We have several friends with kids in Kids After Hours but don' know anyone at a school with Bar-T.

TIA.

Wondering same thing.

Love Bar-T. They are awesome. Very caring and creative staffers.

It's good, just expensive. $495 per child for M-F aftercare only.

We have another provider, but everyone who has Bar-T seems to be really happy with them. On DCUM, at least.

We love Bar T. The staff is great. Energetic. Lots of activities. They decorate the all purpose room every afternoon with rugs, umbrellas, etc.

I have had Bar-T at 2 different schools that my kids attended. The kids love Bar-T, they have lot of activities planned for the kids and have home work time in the evenings..they let kids play outdoor quite a bit too. We even did their summer camp last year. Its expensive but good.

Bar-T at our school is pretty good, though especially on days off from school, there is a lot of screen time. There are plenty of other activities for kids to engage in as well, but I have a kid who if given the choice will happily watch another kid playing a video game all day. I feel a bit ripped off paying $75 for that. There's also a fair amount of junk food.

On the flip side, they are very caring, I like the staff, and they have lots of fun stuff planned and outdoor/gym time for the kids who choose it - it's just unfortunate that my kid rarely chooses it.

My kid likes it, and loves the outdoor time daily. Staff is energetic, always seem happy and there are plenty of 'clubs' for kids to choose from. These include crafts and sports activities.

My kid likes Bar-T too. She likes the various clubs they have scheduled nearly every day. She loves getting extra time to play with her friends. She learned the Nae-Nae and the Macarena. The snacks are kind of junky though. To me, the biggest factor for me is that my daughter is happy to go (even during spring break).

Does anyone know if Bar-T provides a sibling discount if you have more than 1 child attending? We have 3 kids so it makes a big difference.

Thanks!!

I think your experience is going to depend largely on the staff at your school. Neither my child or I are happy with Bar-T at our school but that is mostly because over the years the enthusiasm of the staff has plummeted. A few years ago there were caregivers who engaged with the kids and my son loved it. Now the caregivers sit and talk among themselves while the kids do nothing. They rarely go outside, something that particularly makes my blood boil. But again, that is about the local staff, not about Bar-T as a company.
I will also say that the cost of any "extras" has gone up considerably over the past few years.

We've been very happy with Bar-T. Snacks are a little junky but so what. Kids have fun and are well taken care of. And all three of my kids have really liked the program.

This has been my experience as well. Staff is good, lots to keep kids engaged, but my kids (one in particular) likes it best for the screen time and junk food. We only use it once a week and for drop in, and for that especially, it is really expensive, though good to have as an option when snow days or work demands pop up.
