| We are interested in getting a bearded dragon for our 12 year old but don't know if the pet store, like Petco, is the best place. Is it best to adopt one instead? And from where? |
| Yeah, start with a rescue organization for reptiles -- they do exist. Otherwise, there's a reptile show in Mannassas the first week of Feb. |
| Craigslist! There are so many people who get them and will give them away for free because the idea was good at the time. Especially right after Christmas |
| Op here - thank you! |
| Adopt a larger reptile - they are too fragile when young. GL, OP! |

They had some at the large animal shelter in MoCo. We bought ours at Petco a few years ago for Christmas. We love them! They are so social and friendly. We didn't find the babies to be fragile at all.
We have two, but we separated them around the time they were 18 months old, as they start to get aggressive if you have two males (luck of the draw). |

+1 I got my beardie when he was 1 week old and it was a real struggle to get him properly started. He's 1.5 years old now and a big healthy lizard that is so much less work and I have finally stopped worrying so much |
| I didn’t have any problem with baby beardies. Our are now 7 years old. We bought the full starter kit at Petco, but agree to look at the shelter for an adoption. They are great pets. |
Actually, it doesn't really matter where exactly you will buy the bearded dragon. The most important thing is to be able to take care of him because they are very special animals. By the way, it seems to me that this is a bad idea. I would not buy such an animal for a 12 year old boy. These animals are very calm, but they must be handled very carefully. I also did not know this before, and my bearded dragon even bit me once. At https://officiallypets.com/best-bearded-dragon-enclosure/ I read a lot of useful information about these animals and began to relate to them in a completely different way! Think again before you make such a gift! |
| Montgomery county animal shelter has one for adoption right now! |
| No where. Reptiles aren’t pets. |
| Jesus. Poor things. What humane person thinks it’s good for an animal to be raised in a tank or cage for human amusement? Until the humans grow bored with it and then just leave it alone, that is. |
