SIG summer residential camps

Has anyone ever sent their kid? Is it worth the 4-5K it costs for 3 weeks? How does it compare with CTY summer residential camps? DD is pretty oppositional about doing anything academic from home, so thinking this would be a good way to not get brain drain over the entire summer.

I wouldn't do either of these for a child who has friends and is academically challenged during the school year - it wouldn't be necessary. If those needs aren't being met though - I recommend CTY summer programs. If your child qualifies for these programs brain drain won't be an issue. If you're concerned about losing grade-level academic skills over the summer, these programs are not likely to be helpful.
