Enrichment/Organization Tutor for AAP 7th grader

Anonymous
DC is bright but has ADHD, looks at things as "black and white", and opposes any help from parents. Think it would be good to have a tutor to make sure DC is staying organized and thinking outside the box when it comes to studying.

Any recommendations? I know that FCPS has a tutor list, but it is so long! We live close to Centreville/Fairlakes/Chantilly.

Thanks!

Yes! We also live in this area. Our ADHD AAP 8th grader at Carson fit just this pattern last year. We now have a tutor from Educational Connections who comes to our house once a week, helped him set up binders and organization systems, goes through all long term and short term assignments, helps him develop a study schedule for each week, develop a plan for completing projects, etc. At times when thing are hectic, she even helps him develop an hour by hour Sunday or after school study schedule. We have gone from me having to check blackboard every day and argue with him about every step of every project and every minute of studying last year (with lots of meltdowns-- me and him). to the point, this year, where 100% of homework is being turned in on time, and DC is making strong As without my ever having to nag, check blackboard or tell him what he needs to be studying. It is so nice not to spend all my time arguing about schoolwork. Highly recommend!
