I must say, I am caught a little off guard. We live in FFX county and my child is in the first grade at a Private school. We want to get the child in the public school from Grade 2. We want to be prepped for the AAP program, and are not sure when to take the tests and what are the deadlines. It was not clear to me from the AAP site.
We just found that the NNAT-2 for first graders is at GMU on Dec 12, 2015. Does my kid have to take the test NOW or wait for some another day in the first grade. Can someone please share the smoothest logistics for taking the tests and timelines for submitting the results. Sincerely, |
| If you are moving your child to public school for second grade (FCPS), you do not need to have any tests privately administered. The school will administer the NNAT and CogAT to your child in the fall of second grade. |
| If your child will be in FCPS in second grade, your childr will take the NNAT2 in second grade,, because FCPS administers the NNAT2 to all second graders that do not have a score yet. Once your child is registered in FCPS, just plan to reach out to the Advanced Academics Resource Teacher ( AART) at your child's school to make sure all is set. |
| Not necessarily. My child was new to FCPS in 2nd, was not administered NNAT, therefore did not have an NNAT score for a referral package. We parent-referred successfully. |
