How do you play video games with books and a soccer ball? OP wants to help her child play video games.

I don't understand your response. It's not helpful.

On the contrary, it's immensely helpful. Instead of sitting in front of a screen, the child will be building his/her mind and/or getting some exercise.

How do you know the child didn't build her mind or get exercise earlier in the day? Are you really this stupid? You must be -- here you are, staring at a screen brainlessly instead of getting some exercise.

I'm engaged in intelligent conversation, not brainless. I'm just providing an alternative to caving in to every kid's desire for the latest and greatest video game console/soul killer.

And I have a four mile run planned for later this afternoon. You?

Np here - how does it feel to be so holier than thou? Oh, and here's an actual research paper regarding the benefits (horrors!) of video gaming for teens.

As for your question re: teen Xbox games:

Let's Dance
Also Disney's Fantasia - really cool music conducting video game
Any racing game
The new Lego Dimensions is not too babyish - especially given the Dr. Who and Simpsons scenarios and the multiplayer aspect of it.
Star Wars Battlefront is going to be SUPER cool -and not M, but isn't out yet.
