Lots of posters mentioning WISC scores for kids who haven't even taken the CoGAT.
Why do you get a WISC done before you know whether you need it for an appeal or referral? "Just in case." because you just KNOW your kid is brilliant even if no one else recognizes it? Or bragging rights? |
| Perhaps to better understand your kids learning abilities. |
|
We had a WISC because my child has a disability and we wanted to see what impact the disability had on her. WISC scores reflected what I expected. Huge point difference between verbal and other scores.
Some people have a WISC done to apply for private schools. |
Because a WISC score is part of the $3000+ neuropsych evaluation for ADHD, ASD, etc. |
| Lots of non-AAP reasons. Like the pp mentioned. |
| All the same reasons people who don't live in VA take it. |
| Great question OP. Laughing at the parents saying "ADHD" diagnosis, etc. Funny how all of those results magically show their child is "gifted" too. Sounds like the "deviated septum" excuse for a nose job. |
Absolutely agree! Who would take their child to Children's National Medical Center to be treated by a physician specializing in children, right? |
Those that do not show up as gifted don't post here. We are a self selecting cohort. |
